Carl Coffey

Paper or plastic? Other than bagging groceries at the A&P in town or milking cows on Daddy and Mother’s dairy farm, I’ve only ever worked “on-air” in radio. After high school, I read the obituary report on the Lapeer radio station (yep, same frequency) and was a Mortarman in the 4rth Infantry Division in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Bringing free-form radio back to Detroit in creating and hosting "The Rif Rock Café” and being “Your Afternoon Coffey Break” were high-points of my radio career in the Motor City. I’m glad for the opportunity to entertain and inform listeners every morning on US 103.1, to promote the neighborhood and to be part of the community I grew up in.

You’re invited to take a late winter walk at the center tomorrow morning (2/25) at 8 AM in search of a variety of species. There may also be enough open water for ducks and possibly the first wave of blackbirds. Watching will begin inside with winter finches and other feeder birds while enjoying hot beverages.

Beans & Star Seek The Warmth of A Family or Best Friend

I was talking to a volunteer at Paradise Animal Rescue the other day. Even though every weathercast lately ends with “BRING PETS INSIDE” several kittens were left outside the rescue in this dangerously cold weather. Thankfully, a volunteer stopped by, discovered them and brought them inside to safety. Beans and Star were two of these kittens.
