The fall or autumnal equinox marks the last day of summer and the coming of the autumn months.

Here are some facts about the equinox.

The equinox occurs when the Earth's axis has no tilt, so the sunlight hits the Earth evenly at the equator.

The equinoxes are the only days when the sun rises due east and sets due west.

The equinox traditionally marks the last day of wine harvest and the evening when the wine is put to cellar to ferment. The Wicca religion also celebrates this day as a harvest festival.

Enjoy this lovely time of year.
