Celebrating Two Great Drummers Charlie And Bonzo
Checking out the rock and roll birthday calendar. June 2, 1941, born in London, ‘The Rolling Stones” drummer Charlie Watts. Starting at the age of 17, Charlie began playing in a jazz band. In 1963, he would join a new band on the scene The Rolling Stones and now 50+ years later Charlie is still as cool as ever and on the road with the Stones.
Another famous drummer was born the other day. May 31, 1948, John Bonham of “Led Zeppelin” was born and would become one of the most admired drummers in rock & roll. John Henry “Bonzo” Bonham was renowned for his power, fast right foot, distinctive sound and “feel” for the groove. Bonham has been described as “the perfect model for all hard rock drummers that have followed him”.
