Spotted by a bushwalker in Australia, an abandoned Merino sheep with a massive fleece is shorn and recovering. He was carrying such a heavy load he could barely walk or stand and needed to be sheared immediately. “I don't think it’s been shorn before and I think he’s five or six years old” said sheep shearer, Ian Elkins. Animal welfare experts said he wouldn’t have lasted much longer and veterinarians were unsure if he'd survive the ordeal. The sheep was sedated and the shearing was completed in 45 minutes with the fleece weighing 88 pounds. ‘Chris’ is recovering and the RSPCA is hoping to find him a good home.
