Donald "Duck" Dunn, one of the most important bass players in the history of Rock & Roll, passed away in his sleep at the age of 70 Sunday in Tokyo. Duck  and guitarist Steve Cropper were high school classmates who joined Stax Records in Memphis in the early Sixties to play with Booker T. & The MGs — whose "Green Onions" became an immediate hit. After the MGs split up in 1971, Dunn played on hundreds of sessions, recording with Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart and Bob Dylan, among others. In 1978, Dunn and Cropper joined Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi as back-up for the highly successful Blues Brothers album and movies.  The duo were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1992 and received a lifetime achievement GRAMMY in 2007.  Steve Cropper said on his web site, "Today I lost my best friend, and the world has lost the best guy and bass player to ever live."

Rest In Peace Duck.
