The 12.12.12 benefit concert united some of rock’s heaviest hitters to help raise money for Hurricane Sandy’s victims — but according to producer and film executive Harvey Weinstein, it could have been even more of a star-studded affair.

Weinstein was on hand at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF for short) for a screening of the ’12.12.12′ documentary, which combines footage of the night’s performances (including appearances from Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, the Who, the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney) with candid backstage moments to give viewers a fly-on-the-wall perspective of the show.

According to the Huffington Post, things got really candid at the post-screening Q&A, where Weinstein fielded questions and told tales about his efforts to wrangle celebrities for the show — including a Led Zeppelin reunion that he claims was derailed thanks to the devout refusal of Jimmy Page.

“We get an OK from [Robert] Plant if Page will do it…Jimmy Page doesn’t want to do it,” Weinstein told the audience, going on to poke fun at the Satanic mythology surrounding the guitarist by joking that Page’s lawyer might be the devil. Undeterred, Weinstein brought in a couple of really big hitters — Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama — to try and sway Page, but it didn’t work. “Bill talked to the group and Jimmy told him no. Jimmy Page struck out Obama and Bill Clinton…that will live on in infamy.”
