Are you a small business owner that was affected by the August storms that brought flooding? You could be eligible for disaster assistance.

Last week, the president issued a disaster declaration for nine Michigan counties, including Lapeer, that saw record rainfall and flooding last month. The Small Business Administration will offer disaster loans - Economic Injury Disaster Loans - to those affected by the storms. The EIDL are described as working capital loans to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives and others that cannot meet their financial obligations as a direct result of the disaster. Low interest rates and lengthy term are available.

Those interested in applying can go to the Small Business Administration's website here.
