You see kids, this is exactly why your parents are always telling you to wear your seatbelt.

According to WXYZ, 3 teens in Lapeer County were travelling in a 2001 Chevy Impala on Monday when the 16-year-old driver (from North Branch) lost control and overturned multiple times within a farm field. The driver and a 16-year-old backseat passenger were not wearing seatbelts and ejected from the vehicle when it overturned. A 17-year-old front seat passenger was wearing a seatbelt and was hospitalized but expected to be okay.

This happened on the very same day Michigan's 'Click It or Ticket' campaign kicked off which encourages drivers and passengers to buckle up.

Growing up I lost a lot of friends in car accidents because they weren't wearing their seatbelts. It's far too important, you have to wear your seatbelt.

The accident took place on Barnes Rd. east of Merrill Rd. in North Branch around 3:30 p.m. I really hope those kids will be alright and will hopefully learn a valuable lesson.
