Today (12/18) is the last day you can let the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) know whether or not a 42” high-pressure raw natural gas pipeline should cross southern Lapeer County en route to Canada. Comments can be filed electronically at ferc.gov. Almont, Attica, Hadley, Imlay and Lapeer Township officials have all adopted resolutions opposing routing the proposed ET Rover pipeline through their townships questioning the need for and the benefit to local communities of such a project. The resolutions cite environmental, public safety, property valuation and cost concerns. In their resolution, Almont Township officials suggest that Energy Transfer purchase back the north-south transmission line they sold to Enbridge Energy less than two years ago and convert it to natural gas.
