Peter Dennis Blandford Townshend was born on this day May 19, 1945 at hospital in West London. In 1956, Pete’s Grandmother Emma would purchase him his first guitar. Thank you to Grandma for planting the rock and roll seed.

This week in 1969, The Who releases "Tommy" the first rock opera album. This would be the bands fourth collection of tunes. The album follows the storyline as the lyric says about a "deaf, dumb and blind kid”. The music was for the most part written by Pete Townshend and has sold over 20 million copies.
