The former owner of a Lapeer shoe store, Dustin Jenkins, is accused of robbing the Elba Township branch on March 13th. Jenkins latest day in court didn't take long, less than five minutes. Dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit and wearing chains, his attorney asked for a delay in the preliminary exam until may 2nd. His lawyer, David Richardson said he needed time for discovery and a psychiatric evaluation.Jenkins has been charged with three counts of armed robbery, one count of bank robbery, plus three counts of unlawful imprisonment, and the unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle. Conviction on the bank robbery conviction could get him life in prison. Jenkins is currently being held without bond in the Lapeer County jail.
