Creedence Clearwater Revival were one of the most important and influential rock groups of their generation, despite the fact that their recording career together lasted a scant four years. Their breakup was announced on Oct. 16, 1972 -- 40 years ago today.
Attention all you C.C.R. fans. Their new triple-CD "Ultimate Creedence Clearwater Revival: Greatest Hits & All-Time Classics" — the collection will be available November 6th — compiles 52 tracks that include their well known hits as well as classic album cuts and a string of live material from shows in Oakland, San Francisco, London, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Berlin and stops in between.

The recording process is still underway for the series of collaborations that will eventually make up the ‘Wrote a Song for Everyone‘ album, and last Wednesday that led him to New Orleans to work with Jennifer Hudson.
