Kiss are making a comeback as comic book characters. Beginning in March, IDW Publishing will release a four-issue series starring the Demon, the Starchild, the Catman and the Spaceman. Up first will be Gene Simmons's Demon character in a story inspired by the song 'Radioactive' from the rocker's 1978 solo album.
As we're sure you know, today (Nov. 16, 2012) marks the 31st anniversary of the release of Kiss's much-derided concert album 'Music from the Elder.' Not even one year after announcing he would be bringing the story from that record to the big screen, director and writer Seb Hunter has delivered the first trailer from his 'Elder'-inspired movie.
According to Peter Criss, life in Kiss was, after the first few years, a power struggle, with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley on one side, and him and Ace Frehley on the other. In a new interview, he discusses that dynamic and how it led to his departure from Kiss.
A lot of people would love to see Led Zeppelin play again, and Kiss' Gene Simmons says there was one promoter who went as far as to use him as a go-between in attempting to reunite the band for at least one more show.
They've been around for decades and sold millions of albums along the way, but that doesn't mean the guys in Kiss don't still occasionally run up against an interviewer who's unfamiliar with their music -- or doesn't care enough to do a little preparation for the story.
Aerosmith'sSteven Tyler and Joe Perry didn't mince words when asked about Kiss in a recent radio interview. Tyler admitted he never cared for his counterpart's music after calling them "a comic book rock band." With Gene Simmons and company also doing media rounds to promote a new album, one expects Tyler's comments are only the beginning of an entertaining back-and-forth.
Kiss returned this week with 'Monster,' their first new studio album in three years -- and they marked the occasion last night (Oct. 10) by showing up at the Ed Sullivan Theater to treat the audience at 'The Late Show With David Letterman' to a performance of the new song 'Hell or Hallelujah.'
