Slash and Duff McKagan will not only be on hand for the 2013 MusiCares Map Fund Benefit this week, but the longtime Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver collaborators will share the stage with Stone Temple Pilots and their new frontman, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington.

Stone Temple Pilots took legal action against their former frontman Scott Weiland on Friday (May 24) and now additional details of the suit have come to light. The group claimed that Weiland attempted to sabotage their 20th Anniversary tour as well as their plans to continue their livelihood with Linkin Park's Chester Bennington as their frontman and they've asked for a court ruling to stop Weilan

Stone Temple Pilots apparently fired frontman Scott Weiland earlier this year and now the band has filed a lawsuit against the singer, claiming that he plotted to sabotage their 20th anniversary tour, among other accusations.

Many music fans were surprised last weekend when Stone Temple Pilots not only played a secret gig with Linkin Park's Chester Bennington as their new singer at the KROQ Weenie Roast in Los Angeles, but also released a new song called 'Out of Time.' But perhaps no one was more surprised than original STP frontman Scott Weiland, who was apparently fired from the band earlier this year.

The news of Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington replacing Scott Weiland's spot in Stone Temple Pilots has been receiving a ton of buzz since it was revealed during a live performance on May 18. Having also experienced a complex musical relationship with Scott Weiland in Velvet Revolver, Slash offered his two cents on the new STP lineup via Twitter.

For those wondering about the future of Stone Temple Pilots without Scott Weiland, the first clue will come later this month when the DeLeo brothers and drummer Eric Kretz perform at the MusiCares MAP Fund benefit in Los Angeles. The trio is being advertised as 'Members of Stone Temple Pilots,' lending credence to the notion that they'll be able to continue utilizing the band name without worry. R

Although Scott Weiland isn't happy with the recent announcement that he was fired from Stone Temple Pilots, he hoping there will be a reconciliation in the future. In a new interview with the Youngstown News' Vindicator, Weiland says that he feels his ousting was a "reactionary" decision and doesn't feel the door has closed on his time with the band.

The Stone Temple Pilots have cancelled their current tour again.  This time lead singer has a legitimate “performance related” reason.  Reports say he is having “throat issues” and has been advised to shut it down.  Never saw this one coming...
