The 11th Hour Of The 11th Day Of The 11th Month

Today November 11th is Veterans Day. A day set aside to thank those who stepped forward and defended our freedoms. Initially known as "Armistice Day," it was established in 1926 to recognize the end of fighting in World War I at 11am, November 11, 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). After World War II it was renamed "Veterans Day".
In Lapeer there will be a Veterans Day ceremony at Veterans Park on West Nepessing at 11 a.m.
Veterans are invited to stop by the Lapeer VFW Post 4139 on Daley Road for a Veterans Day Luncheon from 12pm - 2pm.
