Van Halen Extends 2012 North American Tour

Van Halen
Jamie McCarthy

Given the famous history between Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth, few could have expected Van Halen‘s North American tour to last for even the originally planned four months when it was announced back in January. However, things are apparently going so well that the group is actually extending the tour, with 18 more dates announced via press release today (April 17).

Following the original last date of the tour, June 26 in New Orleans, Van Halen will take a much deserved break of about 10 days before playing at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Ct. on July 7. The band will perform about every other night before winding up the tour in Cincinnati on August 12.

In addition to revisiting Uncasville, which the band played in March, Van Halen will make second stops in Detroit and Philadelphia. They will also follow up their previous two New York City dates with a show at the IZOD Center in nearby East Rutherford, N.J. on July 13.

Ky-mani Marley, the son of reggae legend Bob Marley, will open up on all dates on the new leg of the tour. Marley, whose sound is a fusion of world music, hip-hop, blues, rock and reggae, is set to release his fifth album, ‘Evolution of a Revolution,’ shortly.
