Kaley Szarmack was enjoying a day at the beach with her family last week near Jacksonville, Florida. While taking a break from surfing, the 10-year-old was wading in a few feet of water when she felt the bite. She turned to see that a shark had her by the leg when she yelled to her friend, "Get out of the water, it's a shark!" Her friend raced to get help.

The shark let her go as Kaley walked to shore, but then she noticed a six-year-old still in the water. After being attacked by a shark and living to tell the story, you'd think that Kaley would be done with the beach... but you'd be wrong. She went back in and got the six-year-old to protect her from getting bitten.
