‘Bikes on the Bricks’ 2020 Canceled in Flint
Why don't we just call it for what it is - 2020 is canceled.
It's an event that's brought motorcyclists from all over the state and the country to downtown Flint since 2007 and, this year, it will be eerily quiet - Bikes on the Bricks has been canceled.
According to the organizers, there were many factors that came into play here, and it's not just the COVID-19 outbreak. In past years, they've had a lack of interest from the local police in their skills event, and this year is no exception, especially with the current civil unrest.
Next year will be their 15th anniversary, and they said that they'll be back for it.
Some of the features of Bikes on the Bricks in the past have included police skill competitions, a pin-up girl contest, a beer tent, live music, and more. And, of course, it's held in downtown Flint, so this event has been a money-maker for the restaurants and other businesses on Saginaw Street in past years.
Part of the decision was based on the rides that they take through multiple counties and the different guidelines in place throughout Michigan.
This cancellation is just part of the long list of events that have been postponed or scrapped altogether in Genesee County. The Crim Festival of Races has been canceled as well, with the actual race going to a virtual format that will allow runners and walkers to finish their mileage on their own.
Not gonna lie, I'm just here for the Facebook comments.
