Investigators from the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office believe dense fog caused an Ubly woman to miss a stop sign at Jefferson Road in Burlington Township Tuesday morning and to suffer life-threatening injuries.
According to the sheriff's office the 53-year-old was driving a Ford Escape west on Barnes Road when she ran a stop sign at Jefferson Road and drove into the path of a Chevrolet Trailblazer heading south. The driver of the Trailblazer was unable to avoid a collision and hit the Escape broadside which rolled onto its roof in a field. The Ubly woman was pinned inside until the Burlington Township Fire Department and a Lapeer County sheriff's deputy extricated her. She was taken to a local hospital where she was admitted with life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 810-656-1015.
