Lapeer County Man Killed in ATV Crash

According to the Lapeer County Sheriff's report, 40-year-old Joseph Armstrong was driving a 2012 Can Am quad runner southbound on Silverwood Road. His father was following directly behind him on a separate quad runner. The roadway has multiple curves with a bridge.
Armstrong’s father said a northbound blue pickup truck crossed over the bridge near the center of the road when Armstrong went to the right (west) side of the road. Armstrong left the right side of the road and hit two trees before he and the ATV came to rest in nearby water. The pickup truck continued north without stopping,
The man’s father pulled him from the water and performed CPR until an ambulance could arrive. Unfortunately, his son was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police said Armstrong was not wearing a helmet and the road has several curves near the bridge.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office.
