The Flint Fire Department is hitting the streets this weekend to help make sure Flint residents are safe.

Flint Firefighters will be hitting the streets Saturday, April 27th at 8am around Pierson Rd. They will go door to door as they work their way toward Carpenter Rd till around 4pm.

Obviously this is not the easiest task, so they are looking for volunteers willing to help inspect and install Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detectors. In post on the city of Flint Facebook page, they detail what a volunteer would need.

Volunteers are needed! Bring your drill and step ladder with you to Fire Station #6, 716 W. Pierson Rd. Meeting time at 8:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.

This is a coordinated effort to keep Flint residents safe, and make sure that everyone has a plan in case of an emergency.

The units that are going to be installed are donated from the Michigan Fire Inspectors Society, American Red Cross, International Association of Black Professional Firefighters (IABPFF) and the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF).

Everyone knows the importance of a working smoke detector in the house, but there are still people who are not aware how dangerous Carbon Monoxide is. The fact that it is odorless, and so quick to cause death makes it extremely dangerous.

The Facebook post is below, and you can reach out to Flint Fire Station #6 for more volunteer information.
