Get Ready! Flint Township is About to Welcome Area’s First Chick-fil-A

Hey, it's the little things, right?  As someone who for years loved making the drive south for spring break just because it meant a stop at Chick-fil-A, this news literally made my day.

Chick-fil-A is on its way to Genesee County. According to reports, the popular, and addictive, fast food restaurant has been approved to put a new location on Miller Road in Flint Township. After several years of planning, the new restaurant will replace the current Sonic between Austins Parkway and South Ballenger Highway.

Although Chick-fil-A isn't new to Michigan with already having 18 locations throughout the state, this will be the first in the Genesee County area. Up until now fans of the iconic fast food stop had to venture to the Troy of Novi for the closest fix.

Adding Chick-fil-A to the area will be a major plus, and is sure to be a huge hit. People just can't seem to get enough of the chicken giant's menu, and it's not uncommon to see long lines, especially in the food court area at the Somerset Mall location in Troy, or even the newer Traverse City location.

Tracy Tucker, the Economic Enhancement Director for Flint Township who has been an integral part of the approval process since day one, is thrilled to see the dream finally becoming a reality.

“We’re excited,” Tucker told Mlive. “We’re very grateful that they have chosen our community. I think they are going to be great community partners and that’s their philosophy that their franchisees are involved in the community.”

So how long do we have to wait to get our hands on a Chick-fil-A sandwich? According to reports, Chick-fil-A will be creating a new building and opening sometime next year.
