New entry in the Guinness World Records under Largest horn spread – goat (living). It belongs to Rasputin, a Walliser black-necked goat from Austria.
According to guinnessworldrecords.com, Martin Pirker bought Rasputin five years ago – when his horns were only small – but in the following years they underwent a huge growth spurt.
They now measure a magnificent 135.2 cm (53.23 in) in length and the distance between the tips of his horns is 1.35 m (4 ft 5.1 in).
Martin named his record-breaking goat after Grigori Rasputin (1869–1916) – the mystical advisor to Russia’s Czar Nicholas II, famed for his piercing stare and distinctive long, black beard.
The previous record holder for the largest horn spread on a goat was Uncle Sam, who lived in the US and sported horns with a tip-to-tip spread of 132 cm (52 in) on 16 April 2004.
