The reconstruction of M-24 is in it's third full week and it seems that most drivers are either adapting to the roadwork, or searching out alternate routes. How much has that hurt businesses who face M-24 and deal with it directly? How will it affect their future?

The loss between different types of businesses can vary, but it is estimated by a number of local businesses to be down generally about 25% so far.  Even businesses two blocks south of the construction are feeling the pinch at the cash register. The Lapeer City Manager is trying to negotiate a deal with Burger King and Wing Wah Express to open up a drive between the two businesses that would let drivers to pass behind Burger King to get to DeMille St., as opposed to being stuck at the M-24 and East Street intersection.
