Jail Time For Leaving A Dog In A Hot Car?
Every summer you hear about someone breaking a car window to rescue a dog left inside. If two Michigan lawmakers have their way, leaving your dog in a car with unsafe conditions would be illegal under a pair of Senate bills introduced this week and someone who causes an animal death that way could face five years in prison. "I believe that we as a human race should be concerned about animal abuse" said Senator Rick Jones, R-Grand Ledge regarding the legislation he and Senator Curtis Hertel, D-Lansing, introduced last week. Hertel said 16 states already have similar laws.
