For the seventh year in a row, the Lapeer chapter of the Exiled Saints Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club will be having a charity bike run, with the proceeds going to the Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County.

7th Annual Charity Bike Run to Benefit the Child Advocacy Center

This is yet another event to benefit the local Lapeer community. The Facebook event page is here. The motto of the Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer is the following:

"Hearing the Disclosure: Healing the Pain: Halting the Cycle of Abuse"

Where and When Will the Bike Run Take Place?

The Charity Bike Run will be held on Saturday, July 29th. The run will start, and end, at Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2427, located at 3565 Davison Road in Lapeer, MI 48446. There will be a halfway stop at the Colwood Bank.

How Much Does It Cost to Participate/Help?

If you would like to help this local organization do some good for the community, the cost is just $25.00 for riders and $15.00 for passengers. This donation is tax deductible, and includes prizes, refreshments, entertainment and music by Tom and Jen.

Registration will take place from 10:00 am to noon. The run will start at noon, and riders need to return by 6 pm.

Non-Riders Please Take Note

Riders know this, but the general public may not be aware. If you have never been part of a benefit ride, you should keep the following in mind:

Bikers PAY to ride, something they could do for free, but they choose to pay to ride. The fee can be anywhere between $10 to $20, even $30 per person. Not only do they pay to ride, but they usually drop a lot of cash on the extras such as raffles, 50/50, silent auctions, even toy runs for kids, etc.

So if you're ever on the road and you see a group ride by, they may be riding for charity, or a great local cause. Instead of getting upset because they blocked traffic or caused you a slight delay, please remember these are groups of people doing good for the community. So please be patient when you see them, because they are doing good for something bigger than all of us.
