The 1990s saw Metallica go from a non-commercial thrash metal group to selling out stadiums around the world, following the massive success of their Black Album in 1991. Seven years and two albums later, the group released Garage Inc., a compilation of cover songs. Now, drummer Lars Ulrich has hinted at a possible "part two" to the record in a new interview with Kerrang!.

The magazine issue features a section of fan-submitted questions, and one eager 'Tallica lover asked if there would be a follow-up to Garage Inc."Wait and see," Ulrich implored. Ambiguous.

Garage Inc. featured covers of songs by groups spanning from Black Sabbath to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Irish folklore — "Whiskey in the Jar," however they based their rendition on Thin Lizzy's 1972 version. Their performance of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" earned them a No. 1 spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart.

Kirk Hammett later added in the interview that critics don't affect how he views his own work. "Really, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what the fuck they say. If I’ve satisfied that critic in my head, then I’ve overcome my own hurdles," he says.

Metallica recently paid their respects to the U.S. with an instrumental performance of the national anthem at the NBA Finals. Now, they're on tour in Europe with Ghost, then will be heading to Australia in the fall for a brief run with Slipknot. See the dates here.

Perhaps when they return, Garage Inc. Two will be in the works.
