Hunter Dickinson made a huge impact at Michigan in his freshmen year, and unfortunately for Wolverine fans, it might be the only year they get.

Dickinson racked up the accolades during his freshman year at Michigan. He was named the Big10 Freshmen of the Year, First Team All Big 10, and a consensus second team All American. His performance this year helped Michigan win the regular season Big10 Title, and make it to the Elite 8 in the NCAA Tournament. Michigan fans, before you completely freak out, there is a chance that the big man could be back in Ann Arbor next year.

In his statement on Twitter, Dickinson made it very clear that he was doing everything necessary to keep his NCAA eligibility.

You see, as good as Dickinson was in his freshman year, the NBA has become a guard lead league. He also has quite a few parts of his game that he can improve on to become an even more impactful player. Another year at Michigan under Juwan Howard will only help to cement the skills that he will eventually need to become a star at the next level.

So what happens to Michigan Basketball if Dickinson decides to go to the NBA?

The Wolverines were planning on building around the great season that Dickinson showed last year. He was supposed to be the center piece of an extremely good recruiting class for 2021.

Keep in mind that the Wolverines are already losing Isaiah Livers, Franz Wagner, Mike Smith, Chaundee Brown Jr, and Austin Davis from last years team. If Dickinson also leaves, that will mean that Coach Howard will have his work cut out for him with a very talented incoming freshmen class.

The 2021 NBA Draft is happening on July 29th, so there are a couple of months for everyone to figure out exactly what is going to happen. I know that most Michigan fans are hoping that Dickinson will not be drafted high enough for him to leave Michigan, and we will have one more year of the big man in Ann Arbor.

You can check out all of the things Dickinson did last year to earn the praise he is getting now below.
