An 18-year-old suspect is reported to be in critical condition after a shooting on Monday. Police say the man was shot by a Michigan State Police Trooper after he brandished a knife and disobeyed the officer's order to stop.

The second video below, which shows the incident as it took place in Monroe, may be disturbing, and not recommended for all viewers.

According to Toledo TV station WTOL, the Michigan State Police released the following details Today (6/16):

"The trooper was responding to a 911 call for a disturbance and observed the white male walking with a large knife. As the trooper stopped the patrol vehicle, the subject unsheathed the knife.

The trooper attempted to contact the subject, who walked towards the trooper with the knife in hand. The trooper attempted to increase the distance by backing up and subsequently shot and injured the subject."

The trooper is a six-year veteran of the Michigan State Police. He was not injured in the altercation.
