Authorities in the Motor City are trying to get the word out on a possible serial killer who has killed three women on Detroit's east side.

A former FBI special agent is assisting Detroit police in the hunt. Andy Bartnowak says the perpetrator may be looking for power and attention.

"It’s possible this person enjoys the attention that he’s getting," Bartnowak tells WXYZ. "And it’s also possible that when the chief comes out and is asking the public for help, it’s possible that could cause some concern and keep him away for awhile."

Reports say the first victim was discovered in March, the second in May, and the third body was found Wednesday. (6/5)

Investigators are attempting to get the word out and warn people -- especially African American women -- about the dangers that may be out there.

Anyone with information about the murders or the suspect is asked to call Detroit police.
