R.E.M. To Trump And Cruz: ‘Do Not Use Our Music’
Well, it’s happened again. Mike Huckabee and Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis aren’t the only ones to muster the wrath of the rock world this week. At a combined ‘Stop The Iran Deal’ and Ted Cruz rally on Wednesday, ‘It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)’ was blasted from loudspeakers as Donald Trump took the stage to slam a proposed nuclear deal with Iran. “Go f--- yourselves, the lot of you -- you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men” said R.E.M. lead singer Michael Stipe in an email shared with The Daily Beast. “Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign.” Former band mate Mike Mills tweeted “Personally I think the Orange Clown will do anything for attention. I hate giving it to him.”
