Rush ‘Cinema Strangiato 2019′ Film to Hit Screens This Summer
Fans will get to see Rush together again, albeit not on the live stage. The band will hit the silver screen on Aug. 21 for Rush: Cinema Strangiato 2019.
Billed as the first "Annual Exercise in Fan Indulgence," the one-day-only screening will feature an assortment of song performances and backstage footage from the band’s 2015 R40 40th anniversary tour.
The film includes a new interview with singer and bassist Geddy Lee, discussing his 2018 book Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass. Celebrity Rush fans -- including Billy Corgan, Tom Morello and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins -- will also appear in the movie.
"I'm excited for fans to see some new clips from our R40 tour, but also a peek behind the scenes of making the Big Beautiful Book of Bass," Lee said (via Billboard).
Rush: Cinema Strangiato 2019 will screen in theaters worldwide on Aug. 21. Fans can subscribe for updates, including ticketing details, by visiting the film’s official site.
Rush played their final show together on Aug. 1, 2015. Drummer Neil Peart retired afterward, citing continuing health issues. Bandmates Lee and Alex Lifeson confirmed that the band would not continue without all three members, bringing the touring and recording chapter of Rush to a close.
Still, the trio has remained close friends, with Lee even hinting at possible collaborations with Lifeson on non-Rush material. The two performed together in January, providing a glimmer of hope to their passionate fan base.
