April 10,1962, Stu Sutcliffe(wearing sunglasses) — The Beatles' original bass player — died of a brain hemorrhage at the age of 22. Stu had quit the group several months earlier, suffering from chronic headaches.

Stuart Fergusson Victor Sutcliffe was born June 23, 1940 in Edinburgh and raised in Liverpool. He showed early artistic talent, and enrolled at Liverpool College of Art where he met fellow student John Lennon. John would later invite Stu to be a part the band he was putting together. He also originated the "Beatles haircut," pioneering the look of shaggy, brushed forward hair.

Join me at 6:30 weekday mornings for "The Beatles Breakfast Jam".
