Right now, Genesee County has 26 open golf courses according to county records. That's a lot of courses for an area where you can only play for three quarters of the year. Just to put it in perspective, that's one course every 20ish miles. Genesee County is actually ranked 7th in Michigan when it comes to golf courses per square mile.

Knowing how many courses there are in the area, it's a little easier to understand how a course can end up having to close. There's a lot of competition, and only a few months to get golfers on your course.
