Watch 79 Marvel Stars Adorably Assemble for a Massive MCU Class Photo
This year, Marvel Studios is celebrating 10 years of the MCU — an impressive length of time, to be sure, but even more impressive given the number of films they’ve released since 2008. (Black Panther is the 18th movie, FYI.) The game-changing studio is celebrating this milestone all year long, starting with a massive class photo (Academy Awards-style) in which they’ve assembled all 79 stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s so many familiar faces, in fact, that we had to crop some of them out in the above photo.
Joaquin Phoenix Deals With His Drinking in the ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot’ Trailer
Critics weren’t too kind to Gus Van Sant’s last film (the Matthew McConaughey Japanese suicide forest movie), but the filmmaker tends to follow a pattern where every other movie is actually good — and thankfully, judging by the first trailer, Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot looks to be one of the better Van Sant projects in recent years. Joaquin Phoenix leads an awesome cast (which includes a few musical faves) in the true story of an alcoholic who finds respite from his addiction in drawing cartoons for the funny pages.
Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson Top List of Highest-Grossing Actors in 2017
It looks like Vin Diesel has bested Dwayne Johnson in at least one arena, clocking in at number one on Forbes’ list of the highest-grossing actors of 2017 — and throwing a little more fuel on that Fast & Furious feud (say that five times fast). Thanks to The Fate of the Furious and xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Diesel edged out his Fast co-star / arch-nemesis, and with fewer 2017 releases under his belt.
Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Star Trek’ Will Be Rated R, Potential Writers Revealed
Well that was fast. Although we’re still mighty skeptical about Quentin Tarantino actually directing this thing, his Star Trek pitch is moving along rather quickly. The director has met with a trio of writers, with one reportedly emerging as the frontrunner to script the new Star Trek movie based on Tarantino’s idea. But the most interesting part of the latest update on this wacky concept is that Paramount has agreed to Tarantino’s stipulation that the film be rated R.
What’s Expiring From Netflix: December 2017
Bad news, everyone: All 11 seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia are leaving Netflix next month. Good news: There’s plenty of great stuff — including Baby Groot! — coming to the streaming service in December. But just as tons of new titles are added, so must several others expire. It is the streaming circle of life. And time is running out for you to catch up with these titles before they’re gone — possibly for good.
Sylvester Stallone Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teen Girl in 1980s
Allegations of sexual misconduct and assault continue to mount against Hollywood men and politicians in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. Following this morning’s allegations against Senator Al Franken, another prominent and beloved figure has been accused of sexual assault: Sylvester Stallone. According to a recently unearthed police report, the iconic action star and his bodyguard allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in the 1980s.
First ‘Deadpool 2’ Poster Brings Everyone Together for Thanksgiving
When you gather ’round the table to shove turkey into your face with friends and loved ones, what will you give thanks for? Your career, your relationships, just being alive, or maybe the fact that a wild R-rated superhero movie starring Ryan Reynolds as a mouthy mercenary became such a massive hit that we’re actually getting a sequel. (Don’t say that. Your mom will be pissed.) In keeping with the Thanksgiving holiday spirit, the first poster for Deadpool 2 has arrived, and it’s fully prepped for turkey time.
Two More Women Accuse Jeremy Piven of Sexual Assault as 2013 Allegation Resurfaces
You’d be forgiven if — somewhere between Harvey Weinstein, Brett Ratner, Kevin Spacey, and the numerous allegations of sexual harassment and assault leveled against them (and others) in recent weeks — you had forgotten about Jeremy Piven. The former Entourage star was previously accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the set of the HBO series. Over the last several days, two more women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct, while video footage of another woman accusing Piven of harassment in 2013 has resurfaced.
First Look at Baby Porgs in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Will Melt Your Brain
If you, like us, were driven to joyful tears by the mere mention of “baby Porgs,” then you’ve come to the right place. Maybe. Kind of. See, they’re not exactly what you probably imagined when Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy name-dropped the infant version of everyone’s new favorite Star Wars creature last week. Depending on your perspective, baby Porgs either look totally cute or like a surrealist clay sculpture of nesting agony that demands to be documented by Werner Herzog.
Louis C.K. Responds to Sexual Misconduct Allegations: ‘These Stories Are True’
In recent months, while promoting the release of his upcoming indie feature I Love You, Daddy, Louis C.K. has been asked about rumors of his sexual misconduct that have circulated for years. Given that some parts of his film eerily — and perhaps even brazenly — evoke those rumors, it’s a fair question, but one he has repeatedly dodged, refusing to validate those rumors by so much as acknowledging them. But after five women came forward with allegations about C.K.’s past sexual misconduct in the New York Times, the comedian has finally broken his silence in a heartfelt letter.
Deadpool Is the Guest Editor of Good Housekeeping’s Holiday Issue (No, Really)
Deadpool is such a pop culture sensation that even Good Housekeeping — yes, as in the magazines your grandmother often has stacked on her doily-covered end table — is getting in on the action. The Merc With a Mouth is the special guest editor for the magazine’s upcoming holiday issue, which is, uh, stuffed with all kinds of delicious Deadpool-ized recipes and tips.
Louis C.K. Accused of Engaging in Sexual Misconduct With Five Women
This afternoon, the New York premiere of Louis C.K.’s upcoming film I Love You, Daddy was canceled amid reports that the New York Times was on the verge of publishing a major story about the comedian. That story is, as many suspected, a damning exposé on C.K.’s history of alleged sexual misconduct. Five women went on the record with the Times to share stories of uncomfortable encounters with C.K., the oldest of which dates back to the late ’90s.
