Davison High School graduate Tim Thomas helped lead the Boston Bruins to their first Stanley Cup Championship in 39 years. Not only did Thomas play brilliantly in goal against the Vancouver Canucks, but he was named the Most Valuable Player of the series. Thomas recorded his second shutout of the series with a 4-0 game seven win. It was the first Stanley Cup Championship for Boston since 1972.Thomas made 37 saves, kicking, blocking, and wiping away every Vancouver shot. On the other side of the ice, Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo suffered through a miserable series that saw him pulled from two games. The seven game series featured each team winning on their home ice, except for the game seven clincher.
