Jury selection in a first-of-its-kind case is expected to begin on May 12 in Lapeer at the courthouse. A Metamora Township husband and wife are both charged with second-degree murder in the July 23 dog-mauling death of a 46-year old jogger. The couple’s second-degree murder charge for the actions of their dogs is a rare, first-of-its-kind charge here in Michigan. Meanwhile, eight Cane Corso puppies taken from the house have found new homes throughout the country after rehabilitation at Cane Corso Rescue, Inc., in Austin, Texas.
