The Arts have invaded downtown Lapeer this year and the Lapeer Art Association plans on keeping the celebration going this weekend at Gallery 194. The LAA will host a Day of Art in Downtown Lapeer on Saturday, July 12th from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will be free and open to the public with activities planned throughout the day.

The Art Association has activities planned that include Colored Pencil workshops that last about 45 minutes and will be taking place throughout the day, sidewalk chalk drawing for all ages, Plein Air painting demonstrations on the Courthouse Lawn and afternoon activities and demonstrations that include Mosaic Tiles, Tile Painting, and Basketry. In addition to these great activities and demonstrations, artists Marianna Fiedor and Kathy Cassell have come up with a community collage project that will be created Saturday afternoon. Visitors to the gallery will be able to help create a multi-media cityscape, and farmscape that will go on display in Gallery 194 when completed.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy free refreshments provided by LAA and get more information about upcoming events and activities held by both the Art Association and the Center for the Arts of Greater Lapeer.
