Kick up your gaming skills a notch by maneuvering real robots through an obstacle course at ROBO-CON, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Lapeer’s Center for Innovation (Lapeer West), on Millville Road, Lapeer.

There's no admission fee for the event, where participants can also challenge robots to disc-throwing and hoop-shooting contests, launch water balloons from a giant slingshot and see student-built bots on the game field.

Check out the flying robot quadcopter, commercial robots, a soap box derby practice track, and the backstory on the Apollo 11 flight and moonwalk. Take selfies with the “Lost in Space” B9 robot and enter drawings for prizes such as local restaurant gift certificates, movie passes, HEXBUG micro-robots, and free bowling and golfing. The Family Literacy Center will host a story corner and book giveaway, and Woodchips BBQ of Lapeer will be selling food on site. Gear up in costume to make it a day of geekiness.
