The holidays are going to look a lot different this year thanks to the coronavirus.

The number of COVID-19 cases and deaths continue to rise throughout the state. According to WDIV, The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has risen to 223,277 as of Tuesday, including 7,724 deaths. This past Tuesday alone we had 6,473 new cases and 84 additional deaths. Those numbers are absolutely insane.

Experts and Gov Whitmer herself are asking that families skip large gatherings this year. It's a sacrifice for sure but it's something that she says she is doing as well.

Gov Whitmer recently talked with WDIV and had this to say:

As we get ready for the holidays every one of us is going to have to have a plan and think long and hard about how we keep our families safe. I know it is hard, no one loves Thanksgiving more than I do. I love to host and have the whole family come together. We are not going to do it this year because it is just too dangerous.

My family will not be getting together like we normally do either. I don't know what's worse, the family not seeing each other for the holidays or the fact that I'm going to have to do all the cooking this year. I don't want to eat my crappy overcooked Thanksgiving dinner, I want mom's amazing turkey, duck, mashed potatoes, stuffing and all the other goodies we get every year. Talk about making a sacrifice.
