Just how amazing has the start to online gambling and sports betting been in Michigan?

Well, after just two months, the Great Lakes State is set to blow past Pennsylvania and into second in the revenue charts, which would leave only New Jersey left in its sights.

In March alone, the online casinos in Michigan brought in $95.1 million in receipts, which was third in the county, just behind Pennsylvania ($97.7 million). But Michigan has a long way to go to catch the current king of gambling, New Jersey, which just set another record of $113.7 million for March.

Second to the king, though, is pretty good, especially when you consider Michigan only started online gambling at the end of January.

But Michigan is nowhere near New Jersey in sports betting take: New Jersey just took in $859 million in March (about 90 percent from online gambling), and has now passed $2.5 billion for the first quarter of 2021, which would see the Garden State shatter its record for a year of $6 billion. Michigan took in just under $360 million in March, which was a jump from February, but still far behind New Jersey.

Many people want to know when the casinos around Michigan will start having live entertainment and events so that there is a total experience once again for the patrons.

The Island Showroom at the Island Resort and Casino in the Upper Peninsula will have shows nearly every weekend in May, with Clint Black and Hardy already sold out.

Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort has Luke Bryan with special guest Morgan Evans scheduled for Memorial Day Saturday night (May 29) in the outdoor center, but most of the shows on the docket around the state are set for July.

Snoop Dog and Whiz Khalifa are going to rock the stage at Soaring Eagle on July 15, and there are so many other shows around the state all summer. Will we start to get closer to normal once again? Hopefully, and the return of concerts is one sign that we are nearly there.

What about sports betting at the casinos this summer?

There are a few key events that should keep everyone interested. While fans in Detroit will not have to worry about supporting or betting on their hometown Pistons or Red Wings (sorry, but maybe it will save you some cash), the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs might be more open than any other campaign, with plenty of money to be made if you back the right team. The same can be said in the NBA, if LeBron James and/or Anthony Davis go into the playoffs at less than 100 percent.

If you are a soccer fan, the Euro 2020 Tournament will start a year after scheduled and could be the most competitive tournament of all time. Remember, six of the eight quarterfinal teams at the 2018 World Cup came from Europe, as did all four semifinalists. Can France repeat what the 1998 and 2000 team did and hold both cups at once, or will the trophy come home to England?
