It was a year ago today (5/20/13) when we heard the sad news that Ray Manzarek, keyboard player and founding member of the The Doors died at the age of 74. Ray had suffered from bile duct cancer for many years, and lost his battle at a clinic in Germany, with his wife and brothers at his bedside.

Ray got together with Jim Morrison in July of 1965,and started working on the idea of putting a band together. January 1967, The Doors released their first album and the rest is Rock history.

Here's Ray on the keyboards and The Doors complete with a horn and string section.
