Health woes have forced Nazareth singer Dan McCafferty to retire after more than four decades of fronting the band, but his heart remains in the music -- and with the fans, whom he thanked in a heartfelt letter recently posted at Nazareth's website.

You can't keep a good rocker down. That's what Nazareth frontman Dan McCafferty believes. After announcing his retirement earlier this week, he says in a new interview that it's possible that he could still record, even if performing is out of the question.

Nazareth singer Dan McCafferty, who went through some scary medical drama earlier this summer when he collapsed on stage, has ended up back in the hospital after being forced to cut another concert short.

At 45 years and counting -- and a fair bit of the original lineup still intact -- Nazareth is one of the longest-tenured rock bands currently working. And despite rumors to the contrary, they don't seem to have any plans to hang it up anytime soon.

A fan fave by Nazareth gets on today, Beggar's Day from their biggest album, Hair Of The Dog.  It didn't get the attention the bigger hits got but maybe that's a good thing - we're not sick of it!  Plus you'll get two for one; I like tracking Rose In The Heather, right after it...

How about we give Hair Of The Dog a break today and reach back a bit further into Nazareth's past.  Chances are if you saw the band in concert back in the day, you'll remember This Flight Tonight.  It was a stage fave by the boys and also a pretty big hit in other countries, Canada for one, if I remember right...

Scottish rockers Nazareth will always be known for their 1975 album Hair of the Dog, thanks to it's hairy title track and the (apparently) timeless ballad Love Hurts.  This is unfortunate, really, because the band released upteen high quality albums during their 1970's heyday that were little more than ignored here in the States, but got attention elsewhere...

You need more than two hands to count the Nazareth albums over the years.  Just ONE came through and passed the others by unimaginable distances.  1975's "Hair Of The Dog" made them stars that decade thanks to their version of "Love Hurts", which is still all over classic rock radio...
