Verlander Ties Lolich Opening Day Record

The Detroit Tigers finally got the new season underway yesterday after the wash out on Monday in Chicago. Justin Verlander was hot stuff as were the Tiger bats.
Justin had the White Sox batters scratching their heads as he struck out 10 of them to match the most strikeouts by a Detroit pitcher on opening day when Mickey Lolich did it in 1970.

The Tigers smacked three home runs in the 6-3 win over the White Sox.
