Each year the Capac Chiefs and Marlette Red Raiders’ Varsity Softball teams hold a benefit softball game. This year’s double header under the lights, ‘At Bat for Autism,’ will be held on Friday, May 16, 7:00pm at the Marlette High School baseball fields.

At Bat for Autism will help raise Autism awareness/acceptance and proceeds from the game will benefit students with autism. The Lady Chiefs will donate their portion of the gate admissions to the Capac Community Schools Autism Intervention Fund. The Autism Intervention Fund was created by Tammy Will, Capac Special Ed Coordinator/START Grant Coach, and is meant to purchase classroom intervention tools for Autistic-impaired students.The Marlette team will donate their portion of the gate admissions to the Sanilac ISD Autistic-Impaired Program.

In addition to the game proceeds, Coach Tom Mailloux has challenged the Lady Chief players to each raise $50 for the benefit game. Admision is $5

Autism now affects 1 in 68 children, 1 in 42 boys and 1 in 292 girls. It is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the United States and is a lifelong disability.
