Cold weather is part of winter in Michigan, but the cold snap coming through next week could set some new records.

The temperature drops we've seen this past week are just the start to a huge arctic blast coming into Michigan next week. We won't be the only ones feeling the chill though, as the cold temps go all the way to the gulf coast. The cold spell is set to break all kinds of temperature records throughout the nation.

We'll see the coldest of the temps on Monday and Tuesday, before we have to hear the southern states complaining about it being 40.

There is a snow storm forming behind the cold front, but it looks like most of the snow will miss us this time.

There have been quite a few weather experts talking about record snow accumulations this year. We haven't seen it in Genesee County, but there have been plenty of other parts of Michigan getting dumped on.

The main thing is that you need to be ready for the cold. Don't just wear your same old coat and shoes out, make sure you are dressed accordingly. Maybe pick up some electric socks to keep your feet extra warm.
