Gas prices have been skyrocketing lately and it has officially put us into new territory as prices reach a record high!

This is a bad look headed into spring of this year, especially knowing how prices are gonna still go up the closer we get to summer. At this rate, the average worker is gonna get bled dry if there isn't some type of solution soon to help balance things back out. But with the invasion of Ukraine, I don't see these gas prices coming down at all.

Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey said Sunday the new price exceeds by 32 cents the prior all-time high of $4.11 set in July 2008.

 

According to the survey, the average price of diesel also spiked, up $1.18 over two weeks, to $5.20 a gallon. Diesel costs $2.11 more than it did one year ago.

For the Genesee County area, I managed to find a few spots via Gasbuddy.com that still have gas close to the bottom end of $4 dollars, but that isn't gonna last. With the current presidential administration putting record sanctions on Russia the ripple effect is being felt here home side. Russia is one of the world's largest producers of oil and cutting them off from the American market is really gonna mess things up.  The idea is for us to eventually become energy independent from other nations so we can avoid situations like this.
