Everyone has heard the word prodigy. It has been applied to many when talking about a specific talent, or talents, that a kid might have. When it comes to (now) 14-year-old Australian guitarist, singer, and songwriter Taj Farrant, he certainly embodies that word.

How Farrant Decided Music Was His Destiny

Farrant got his first taste of fame at a very young age.

His dad took the then-six-year-old rocker to an AC/DC concert. And, after seeing Angus Young bring down the house on the stage, Taj looked at his father and said, "That is what I want to do for the rest of my life!"

Seeing the excitement and conviction in his son's eyes, his father bought him a guitar. And it did not take long to realize that little Taj was serious when it came to his comment.

Is Australian Guitarist Taj Farrant a True Prodigy?

Farrant got his first guitar at only six years old. The following video is him playing his version of Chris Stapleton's 'Tennessee Whiskey' at 9 years old. And, for those of you who have never tried to play guitar before, it is not an easy instrument. But you would never know that when it's in this kid's hands.

The video starts off slow and starts to build. He goes crazy around the 3-minute mark. And, at that point, it's hard to decide what's more entertaining, his guitar playing, or the joy on his face. Perhaps that's another reason this video's views are at 11.3M and climbing.

How Much Has Taj Farrant's Success Grown?

After the overwhelming success of his take on Chris Stapleton's 'Tennessee Whiskey,' things started blowing up for the young prodigy.

Check out this amazing video of 9-year-old Farrant wowing the judges of Australia's Got Talent on his first appearance. Eventually he ended up being the runner up / 2nd place elimination during the Semi-Final round.

But Farrant's rise to stardom didn't end there. His success catapulted him all the way to the Ellen DeGeneres Show, where the 9-year-old sensation continued to amaze, this time in the USA. Check out that performance below:

Since the Ellen appearance, Farrant has gone on to play with music legends like Carlos Santana, KISS, Rob Thomas, Orianthi, and more. This success has also made him a little money. According to Full Celebs, the now-14-year-old rocker has an estimated net worth of between $1 - $5 million. This is only an estimate, but it's very impressive. Not to mention he is the youngest guitarist ever to be fully endorsed by Gibson Guitars and Elixir Strings.

Will Taj Farrant Add a Michigan Date to His Next U.S. Tour?

With the success Farrant saw doing a small amount of chosen stops in the USA in 2022, there is talk of him doing another tour throughout the United States soon. With his list of endorsements growing, as well as his growing list of YouTube followers which is currently at 287,000 subscribers, there is no doubt this incredibly talented young man will be a name we will hear for years to come. I just hope the name is followed by "Appearing in Michigan," because this is one budding musician that has a chance of becoming a worldwide phenomenon.

In the meantime, check out these concerts coming to Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston this summer.
