Police arrested a man just three months after his release from prison for allegedly stealing two cartons of cigarettes. Metamora police arrested Jeffrey Sass, 34 after going to a home on Hosner Road to question Sass about a shoplifting incident earlier in the day.

Police were called to Pine Knob Mobile #2 at the corner of Pratt and South Lapeer road after a clerk claimed a man had run off with two cartons of cigarettes. The clerk gave police a license plate number. Sass had apparently borrowed the truck from the owner. Police had to track Sass after he ran into the woods. He was later taken into custody and arrested for resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer. He was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.

Sass had been released from prison in January after he had served 10 years for first degree home invasion in Oakland County in June 2003.
