Students Invited to Be part of Art on Nepessing St. in Downtown Lapeer
Art on Nepessing St. is coming back to historic downtown Lapeer in a very big way this April through May and the Art on Nepessing St. Committee wants Lapeer County Students to help make a creative impact in this year’s event. The Downtown Business Association in partnership with the Center for the Arts for Greater Lapeer, and the Downtown Development Authority is inviting Lapeer County students to create the street banners and the official poster promoting this year’s event.
Kindergarten through eighth grade students in Lapeer County are invited to submit a street banner design for the 2015 Art on Nepessing St. One student from each grade will be chosen to have their design turned into a decorative street banner for downtown Lapeer. This is an exciting opportunity for young artists to see their creation brightening up Downtown Lapeer, and inspire visitors to our community. At the conclusion of the event the banners will be auctioned off as part of the closing gala and the money raised from the event will support the Center for the Arts of Greater Lapeer, and the DBA.
In addition to the banner contest, the Art on Nepessing St. committee is inviting ninth through twelfth grade students in Lapeer County to create a poster promoting this year’s art festival on May 15 and 16. One student will be chosen to have their design turned into the official 2015 poster promoting Art on Nepessing St. 2015.
Both the Street banner contest and Poster design contest are open to Lapeer County students and the deadline for both contests is Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Entry forms as well as design templates can be picked up at Gallery 194 during normal business hours. Forms can also be obtained electronically by emailing the gallery at email@example.com or visit gallery194.com/events.
